The new single ‘Fragile’ from Burning Velvet is another step towards the new direction and transformation that he is currently undergoing. The song will also feature on his sophomore album ‘Listen’ which is set for release on September 21 on vinyl and all relevant streaming services.
2 years ago Nicolai Wøldike Schmith aka Burning Velvet had a shoulder condition meaning that every other minute his shoulder popped out the socket. Thus disabled for many weeks and undergoing surgery to keep his shoulder in place, Nicolai suddenly found himself with all this time on his hands and not being able to play his beloved guitar. Experiencing that this little limitation fuelled the thought of him being, in its very essence, fragile.
Equipped with an old ELKA organ and a rhythm box that he was able to play with only one arm the tune ‘Fragile’ came into being. Later on he added a 12-string guitar lick, a signature beat and a Warren Ellis-esque Korg synth-burst.
Fragile is about the importance of doing what you can, while you can. In a broader perspective giving love and acceptance to the people around you. Love, respect and acceptance is the glue of the human tribe – without this we are all just a collection of indviduals without coherency and in essence a crazed matter that can so easily fall apart.
Once again the musicians are the former Wynona-members: Moogie Johnson, who has also produced this song and beautifully adding synth and a guitarsolo; Tobias Lange plays the drums and Camilla Munck sings the heartfelt lines with her angelic, yet mourning voice surrounding frontman Nicolai Wøldike Schmiths baritone voice delivering the lyrics almost as spoken word.
RIYL: Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, Daughn Gibson, Lambchop, Neil Young, JJ Cale, Woven Hand, Timber Timbre and Portishead.

Fragile
Music and lyrics by Nicolai Wøldike Schmith
Beauty can be seen
Not explained
Brittleness
Can be explained
And described
Crazy really means
Fragile
Easy crack expressed
Fragile
Friability
My bitter friend
Easy fall apart
Connect your heart
Crazy really means
Fragile
Easy crack expressed
Fragile
See clearly now
Your fellow man
After all, we are just human
We are just human
Give this, your fellow man
What he needs
Love and acceptance
From what he feeds
Crazy really means
Fragile
Easy crack expressed
Fragile
